RUBS

Spice Rubs are a key component in creating a baseline flavor that has the ability to stand-alone as a flavor savor powerhouse! If you are just beginning to barbecue testing spice rubs alone is a good way to determine what types of spices/rubs you enjoy on different types of meats or other foods. All of the spice rubs that Ugly’s creates are intended to be used on specific food products and some are even intended to be used in conjunction with other Ugly’s products. At the end of the day, variety is the spice of life and Spice Rubs are what make Northern California BBQ cuisine have that modern bold flavor that satisfies. Ugly’s BBQ is all about establishing that NOR*CAL BBQ taste and these spice rubs are setting the standard.

SAUCES

Sauces come in a wide range of varieties from coating the food with flavor, dipping, or for garnishing. Sauces are great if you are trying to accent flavors to a higher level. This is the opportunity to create mouth sensations. Sauces will provide tanginess, sweetness, a savory taste, or an extra kick of spice. Sauces are not always necessary but can really take certain meals to a next level experience.

PASTES

Ugly’s pastes are something that is in-between a spice rub and a sauce. Generally, pastes are not accompanied with a rub because there are ground spices infused into the paste. Pastes put out a lot of flavor and may seem viscous initially, but pastes will hold onto the meat once some heat causes the paste to stick to the meet. Pastes are often, but not always joined by a sauce. Pastes are versatile and can pack a ton of flavor by themselves but usually are used before adding a sauce. Pastes go especially well with ribs, pork, and certain cuts of red-meat.

MARINADES

Marinades are a best friend to someone who plans their meals and barbecue creations in advance. A barbecuer will have optimal results with marinades if they soak whatever it is they are preparing for some time. Depending on the meal, marinades may best be used hours in advance or days. Regardless, the wait is worth it as marinades penetrate the fibers of the meat and will make sure every bite is packed with flavor.
